Stabilizer is an independent game design project for the PC. It is a combination of RPG and rhythm game systems that encourages the player to experiment with audio samples and create their own compositions as they explore a purgatory like environment.
Stabilizer started development with a larger team in 2019, but has since been continued solely by myself and Game Artist Hannah Mata. I serve as the games Lead Designer, Producer, Sound Designer, Narrative Designer and Programmer.

Doomsday Fillet was my capstone game for 2020. My team only consisted of for members, and I was the sole designer. We narrowed down from the possible design ideas to one main one, where the player is put in the role of a vindictive fisherman who must swing the fish they catch like a lasso to knock enemy players off of their boats.
I loved capstone because it allowed me to take risks and make interesting concepts, but I would also say this was the time where I really honed in on my system development skills. My documents were tailor made for individual team members, included a lot of visual aid explaining mechanics (including adding video reenactments which I had never done before).
For my first project working in a remote only environment, I learned a lot about how I work most efficiently and what makes for good team communication. Even though we did not go through, I believe this project is one of the games I’m most proud of contributing to at Champlain College.
Project Stayb was a demo I made that consists of possible systems for a music based exploration game.
In Project Stayb, the player travels throughout a linear map in search of sound samples.
Certain sections of the map will trigger the background music to duck in and out. For example, the bassline to the background music will come into the mix when the player climbs up a hill.
This is to add variance to audio as the player explores their environment.
If the player comes across an object that is omitting a sound, they can use the R key to record the sound to their sampler.
The sound samples can be triggered like piano keys by using the key board, and adjust pitch accordingly.
The main goal of this build is to find the dog object, which the player records. Once recorded, the player will jam out using that sound near the dogs owner. After jamming, the dogs owner will thank the player and the level will complete.
